In Casablanca I believe the film is such a classic because of the conflict of the characters trying to go to America. Ilsa stood out to me the most of how she was married and thought her husband (Laszlo) was dead and moved on by finding Rick. Rick never knew she was married and was very depressed of how Ilsa didn’t get on the train with him. Towards the end it made more sense of why she left him. It hurt Rick pretty bad. Rick tricked her by telling her to go with him to America, but really he wanted her to be happy with Laszlo. For Strasser it was important that he didn’t let Laszlo leave because he was influential on other people.
